Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Overview:

The CharteredInsurance Professional (CIP) designation is granted by the the Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) to insurance agents in the property and casualty insurance segments in Canada. The designation was created to promote a standard in the field and gives underwriting, claim and broker professional standing in the field for the benefit of both employers and clients. It is designed to teach and equip each graduating student with a solid learning of technical expertise and it is recognized throughout Canada and internationally.

The program has been designed and the content of the courses has been determined by committees of working insurance professionals and CIP graduates. It is, therefore, the Canadian insurance industry's own standard. Insurance people from the various sectors of the industry have written the text material.
